Most of your adopts are cute, including this one, but I think $15 for a simple design is a little.. I don't know, expensive.

it's cute and pretty... but WAY too much for something that is just a recolor of the same things you have over and over...

why does it matter to you? She isn't going to change the price for people just because it "too high" people could afford this if they have a job and no financial problems

If it were THE original, the one and only, go for it! But for a recolor...
It's insulting to those of us who create completely unique and original adopts each and every time we make them, for someone to use their fame and sell recolors of the same thing over and over at the price of an original concept design. Especially when it is something that looks like at least 50% of all the other adopts I see. (so many cat-fox things out there ya' know...)
Basically is saying "imma be lazy and just recolor my design that sold well at first, because fame is more important than creativity, effort and uniqueness."
I don't mind if bases are used, because that is essentially just a pose, but when it is literally the same thing just different colors and is sold for the same or more than original concepts... It bothers me greatly

And with my experience in past adopt sales, generally speaking, people don't go looking for adopts in the $30+ range. Mostly, people who bid and don't hit buyout quickly have a strained budget and won't go higher than X amount. If you look at the bids, you can see that 3 out of 5 people who bid, tapped out at 35.
Someone with "a job and no financial problems " is a rarity these days my friend... Hell, people with a JOB are rare....

Anywho... Search in DA for "adoptables" and hit "most popular of all time" and browse the top ones. You'll see that even most of THE most popular ever submitted to DA, some better some worse in quality, were a fraction of the price found here. Most had buyouts cheaper than the starting bid of this piece...

But I digress... As i said, it is primarily the fact that it is a recolor being sold at such a high price.... There are exceptions to the general rule and one found it's way here to buy this thing... I suppose it's like a pair of ugly undies, there is always going to be SOMEONE who HAS to have it... (not saying her work is ugly lol she does cute stuff)

If it sells, it sells.

True, it's hard to find a job, but that's life. Anyway, there is no rule saying she cannot just recolor the design SHE made. I agree there are people who work a lot harder on adopts and artwork, but they are the ones who choose the price. They don't have to set it to $5.

If the people don't have the money, then they shouldn't being whining how something is priced so high and say it isn't worth it. That's just plain rude.

I do agree that recoloring is lame, but that's her choice. It's the people's choice whether they'll spend that money. She is not forcing you to pay that amount.

It could be a bit lower, but $15 dollars is really not that much, she needs to make a living to. If you're looking at the auto buy price and thinking that's how much she's offering for, you're wrong. I'm sure she doesn't expect anyone to go that high, and if they do, oh well; they really liked the DESIGN. She can "recolor" all she wants being she spent a well amount of time on the line-art as well as the coloring. I don't see what the big deal is about her recoloring her OWN STUFF.  Yes, Same Line-art, but DIFFERENT Fennekats. Why keep making different line-arts when you can simply just color over on the line-art you've already done? I'm sure Kawiku is a busy person and doesn't have time to just keep making line-art over and over again. Now, I can understand When it's NOT your line-art and you recolor and put it for prices such as 15 dollars or 70 dollars, but it's a bit ridiculous when people have so much time to be bothered by a simple recolor on HER OWN LINE-ART. (Not saying this is you, I'm speaking this for the ones who know who they are.)

recoloring the same design over and over and charging the same as the original, 1st design makes it unoriginal,  non unique and uninteresting.
It becomes an OC to the buyer. OC stands for Original Character... If it is a simple recolor and now tons are out there, it isn't original anymore.

And imo, the SB is even high. If you search the most popular adoptables off all time on DA, few have buyouts that high let alone starting bids of an original, let alone a recolor, that high...

Im not trying to be rude or anything but its a Fennekat and thats original, I mean count how many plain "wolf" adoptables are there and how many people have OCs that are wolves, its like saying if someone else has a cat and you having a beautifully coloured imaginaitve original cat, then its not really original anymore? Dont get me wrong but thats just weird for thinking so...

It's a cat with two tails dude you could find tons of them as characters by people who don't even know 'Fennekats' exist. I'm not gonna go into the money thing because if people wanna pay that much for something they could just make on their own (Like a wolf or dog with two tails or w/e) But this creature is most certainly not original and didn't take much imagination in creating I'm sure. I know it's hard to make up your own original stuff too, but seriously, it's a cat with two tails. That's it. That's the entirety of the species. Oh and they glow to I think?? Still man it's not that great.

Yeah, I mean i know people who sell coloured lineart for like 2 dollars! Thats like 160 points!

Money should only be used for well worthy stuff (like this one if it was one and unique but the thing that there are like 5 other ones, so yeah....)

i do kind of agree with your explanation ^^; i wouldnt see the same pokemon baby appearing in other animes, only in pokemon world (and many are there cauze same species but is surely used by the same author, not by diff authors) though i think the adoptable design is cute but .. well ..

I reckon this whole argument is kind of ridiculous guys... I mean, my OC is a babble fox which is a fox with wings...
They can sell what they want for whatever price they want. It's none of your business. Also, I have seen a few different line-arts for their 'fennekat' all unique. Just because they recycle a line-art doesn't matter... And just changing colours? Someone may love the basic design but not the colour and markings....

The seller is just being smart. Making what she wants whilst insuring the public/ potential buyers want it/like it to.

No big deal.

Yeah... does it matter though? So many people post this sort of argument on her works, it could have been a year ago but still revelant.

Wow. Days? Such a long, LOOONNNG time ago.

Point is, you do what you want, and other people will do what they want.

The price is understandable to me. But as for what you said about "recoloring the same design over and over" She's not recoloring a design, she's coloring over the line-art she has made herself. None of the Fennekats (Design wise) look the same to me, they are all different designs. Although I understand if it all looks the same to you. And being that this is a species, many people are going to have the same creature making it not original, that's the point of a species.

She worked real hard on the lineart. It's called an adopt. That's why she keeps on using the same lineart.
She also spends time on the coloring, you know. She's not being lazy here.

Seems to be an easy way to get money
Not sure what to think about it, I'm not a fan of
this kind of adoptables
I'm not against the species or design itself, it's
just that it is indeed the same piece of art over
and over again just in different colors.
I know that many people use the same lineart for
adopts, but they don't charge $70 for it.
Not even the people who put really work on thier
adopts and draw them completly new.

I'm not a hater, the fennekats are really cute,
I just think it's exaggerated  c:

She didn't charge $17 dollars for it. That's only the auto-buy and I'm sure she isn't/wasn't expecting for anyone to actually do the auto-buy option. Her starting bid is $15 dollars which is what shes really charging for it, being that it's an auction, people can go higher then $15 dollars.
