How I Color by Kawiku How I Color by Kawiku
I'm often asked what program/tools I use for shading/coloring. I'm not very good at making tutorial, but I made this little something and I hope it can help a bit to understand ^^

You need a tablet to use different pressures. It takes some practice to get used to the water brush first, but once mastered it's a very simple, quick and wonderful tool for painting.

Kawiku, this makes WAY more sense to me now.
I was super confused the first time I saw it but as time progressed
and I got a little bit better, this made sense and I tested it out.
Brilliant I must say. No idea as to why I was doing it the hard
way. >.<

Thank you for sharing hun~

Huh? When I use the water brush (same settings) at a low pressure, it doesn't blend like that.

Yeah I thought so too, SAI's lazy mouse feature is still pretty cool for lineart though

It's interesting how the most simple of techniques done well create, in turn, some of the most complex Artistic endeavors known.

With a tablet. The pressure is how hard you press on it

Do you need a specific type of tablet for that because it doesn't work on mine.

oh you have to click the box that says 'advanced settings' at the bottom of each basic brush setting and check the box that says 'size' at the bottom of the advanced settings .

Hope this helps !

Actually, I think it's possible. I have PS Elements 9, and most of the time I use the first three default brushes: hard round, soft round, and airbrush soft round - and the eyedropper.

It's hard to explain the process, so I made this little thing: [link] I'm sorry if I'm totally overreacting to your question, but I hope this helps. Another explanation I've found helpful can be seen here [link] . You need to scroll towards the end of the deviation, though.

I really don't think you can. I've worked with multiple versions of Photoshop and you really cannot get a similar effect. Since Paint Tool SAI has brushes that mimic those of traditional artwork, it is possible to get this effect.
With Photoshop, they has brushes that mimic, well, digital painting brushes. Unless someone figured out how to make a brush like this on Photoshop, and you'd have to do some searching, this effect is impossible on that particular program.

MS Paint is NOT Paint Tool SAI. There is a total difference. Paint Tool SAI is a Japanese program that costs about $70 for a full usage license. Here is the official website where you can purchase it [link] .
