Just FYI, as I see you're interested in animal activism from your post on primate trafficking, the declaw procedure is not merely a removal of "claws", but an amputation of the distal phalanges--equivalent to you having your fingertips removed up to the first joint. Believe me when I say I'm not trying to be a jerk by pointing this out to you, but most people I know with declawed cats did -not- know what the procedure entailed until I explained it, and were upset that no one took the time to explain it previously. (I work at a vet's and unfortunately people still request the procedure sometimes.) I'm not saying you made the decision, as your cat may be a family pet, but I prefer to inform people when I have the chance. That being said, I'm sure you love your cat very much and he's living a good life with you.
