These are very expensive icons compared to other artists of the same quality. In saying this I like your art style and may commission you on a regular drawing once you open again.

15$ an hour is going over bored is my opinion. . . Its far to much.. Maybe 5$ an hour.. So if you work like 4 hours your still getting 20$ out of it. Its unfair to ask for like 60$ for a 4 hour work phase. Or even longer depending how long you take.. I don't think you should make it like that anyway. Set a price, don't set it like "15$ an hour" That I don't see as fair. This isn't a job, its a hobby. Its not something you do full time or something like a real organization provided by a company name and all that stuff. This is something done for a hobby and so on so forth. So carshing like 20$ for a simple pixel.. No that is far to much. Or for the peek a boo.. 20$? For a small animation and icon is going over bored.. Maybe 10$ That is just what I think. But I may just be reading into the wrong way..

For some people, it is a job, or a second job. 7 dollars and some-odd cents per hour is minimum wage for unskilled labor, and that's not even close to a living wage.
A skilled artist like Kawiku has the right to set a price she finds fair for the amount of effort she puts into her work, and if people believe her art to be worth it, ta-da. Also, the going rate for art this quality is quite far beyond what she's asking- you'll find that trend throughout most of dA. It might seem like a lot, granted, but when you're talking about real work for real money in the real world (not just points for premiums or pocket change for a cheeseburger), it really and truly isn't.

Thats really not fair of you to judge how much an artists thinks their time is worth. I would not be ok with doing a picture that took like 4-5 hours to make for onlhy 25.00, minimum wage now is 7.75 and thats for basic labor, artists also have to pay for art supplies, or other things that they might need. Have you ever done pixel art? it takes a long ass time to do, so dont ever EVER try to tell an artist that they are not worth what they think they are. They set their own prices for a reason, if you wanna whine about it go look for someone else, theres always people willing to undersell their selves.

She works hard at what she does and I believe she deserves it. And "That I don't see as fair"? It's not fair to her to go down on her prices when she does an amazing job.  And no, it's not just a "hobby." people actually get their money from doing art.

I think it is important to realize that the going rate for illustration work outside of deviantART is hundreds to thousands of dollars for just one commission. $15/h is definitely more than fair for the quality of work that Kawiko provides.
Not to mention that minimum wage is roughly $7/h (which isn't even close to what is necessary to make a living off of).  Illustration, conceptual design, and so on are all professional industries.  There may be kids on here who are willing to work for pennies on the hour, but there are others who are professionals looking to make a living off of their professional grade work.
To me it is all about supply and demand as well. If Kawiko was charging 15/h and no one was buying, perhaps that would be an indicator that she was charging too much; however, since people are clearly willing to shell out for the work Kawiko produces, it seems to me that 15/h is a perfectly reasonable price (perhaps even too low)

I'm not trying to argue. I'm just trying to shed some light on the subject.

Whoa man, are you serious? "This isn't a job, its a hobby"?

That is FAR from the truth. While not every commission artist doesn't portray a business front, it IS still a job. It doesn't have to be under any company name, or have a building, or a full blown website. You are paying for a service. Not to mention, artists like kawiko spend countless hours on their commissions.

You think those pixels are easy? Try making the exact same within a couple hours.
If you don't like the prices, then don't buy.
Every artist charges their worth, it's painstakingly hard to keep up with demand. It's not like it's all fun and games, it really isn't. It's a never-ending stress, as if any other job.

So, kawiko's prices are completely reasonable, if not under-priced. I get commissioned a lot, with fluctuating pricing and my talent, so just by my own experience with being a commission artist, I can vouch that kawiko's prices are just.

minimum wage is $7 an hour, if you're working for less than that it's be better to invest in a job at a fast food chain.

I take about an hour to 5 hours to complete a project if not longer. But I am not all itchy about pricing. If I only worked and completed it in an hour. I would probably charge more then 5$ maybe 10$.

Oh my gosh, I hate it when people winge and whine about the price range of artwork. I'd be pretty insulted if people were telling me to lower the prices of my artwork, even though they take hours of work and effort. Kawiko isn't putting a lot of hours and effort in just to give away to people for nothing. You feel like you've accomplished something when you work hard at something, and people appreciate your work and pay you for it. If you're just going to complain, go somewhere else, you've obviously not been spending a lot of hours and effort into artwork for commissions.

GUYS! Stop babling that 20$ is too much! I know, i know, i cant afford it too, but what if Kawiko makes a living out of it? He doesnt use this money for party and candy. Maybe he uses it for food and his house! And bills! Also, ive got to say, His art is actually  WORTH all of those points/cash. Hes art is good enough for this kind of price! Look, if his art wouldnt be amazing, he wouldnt price it this high.

For the peoples who think the prices are high;
the prices are not near being high.
him/her put's tons of work into the icon/pixel
and make's time to do so. if you think 20$ is a
high price you need to get a job, of something.
2,000:points: isn't near being high either, unless
you have a low minimum on points. i have to
be honest, i barely have any points but just be
happy with what you got i guess. have fun all, bye.

Points are not fake currency, You can buy real artwork with points. Along with clothing and ordering other stuff on deviantart. It may be limited to only Deviant art, but you can still buy real stuff with points. There for its still a real currency which can be used for real items.

I'd say post some examples and a sort of price range so it saves you from people asking the same thing over and over again, if they're serious about buying they can see the price. I guess for some chars it can vary, but when I get some monies again I will probably get another commish. ;u;
